The affair was decided suocens financially, socially and dramatically, and will long be re membered by those present. About 200 guests gathered lBt even ing at Cotillion hall to enjoy the hos- panclng was enjoyed from 8:30 until 12 o'clock and light refreshments were kcrved. Where Mr. and Mrs. Henry McCall (DoTOthy Lawson) are visiting Mrs. McCall 's father, Thomas Lawson, dis tinguished author-financier, of the ar rival Tuesday morning of a baby daughter. Mr. and Mrs. McCall are popular in Portland society as they are. frequent visitors here en route to and from their country home lrt cen tral Oregon. Ir. Deering to Entertain. Mrs. Chester Deerlng has sent out cards for a breakfast and relay bridge party for Saturday, April 25, at her home, 484 East Twenty-third street north. In Irvtnaton. Bridge will be gin at 10:30 a. m. mahoo Club "Ilarn Dance." Last evening the Illuhee Riding club entertained about 100 of their friends with a novel affair at the Portland Riding academy. They first gave an exhibition of class work in thu ring -with some Jumping stunts, finishing the drl" nd later enjoyed an old fashioned 'barn dance" on the coach house floor or the stable. Punch was served from a galvanized iron tuo and every other detail was carried out In keeping with old time barn dances. Oieens decked the walls and paper mache horses' heads were bridled with yellow and green ribbons, the Club colors. Bales of hay furnished eats for the dancers and quadrilles, lancers , and tango dances were the order of the program. The men wore riding breeches and white negligee shirts and the women were attired In their habits. Tho guests wore street ulta. Surprise Enjoyable Affair. A most enjoyable surprise party was given April 1 1 at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. George Bluhm, 6410 Thirty-seventh avenue, southeast. The occasion was Mr. BluhmSs birthday. After many good wishes to the host a hand some oak rocker was presented. The evening was spent in playing BOO. 4 Card honors fell to Mrs. C. W. Hllde ' brand. J. L. Losey, Miss J. Buchler and C F. She car ried an arm bouquet of white carna tions. The bridesmaid was charming In a gown of pink crepe de chene, wit.i overlace. She carried an arm bouquet of pjnk carnations. Tho bride's father and mother and tho bridegroom's moth er received the guests. After the serv ice a reception was held for th manv friends of the couple, and a delicious lunch was served. In accordance with the wishes of Miss WMlson and Mr. McAdoo, the wedding will be small, only Vice Pres ident and Mrs. Marshall, the cabinet and the immediate members of the two families are to be present" Thrifty Individual Borrows Automobile II Machine TTsed to Carry loads of Fans to Baseball Game and Then Returned to Owner. Some one yesterday afternoon made good use of the auto belonging to W. B. Donahue, 869 East Thirtieth street. The machine was left at Alder and Fourth streets at 1:15 o'clock. Within a few minutes it was gone. At 1:30 it was seen at the ball grounds with a load of passengers. Fifteen minutes later It had another load of oasseneers. Three times the machine was seen to unload ball fans, the driver having secured his passengers downtown. When the rush was over, the auto was left near where It was taken.
