As an Illustration of the manner in Which the draws of the bridges across the river are operated the local river men call attention to the number of times the ateam schooner Baginaw, bound down the river yesterday after noon, was required to whistle for the different bridges. In passing through the bridges) she Whistled for . draws 10 times, an average of twice for each bridge, the Morrison street bridge be lng the only one that gave her prompt attention. The Saginaw was heavily laden with lumber loaded at the Multnomah Box A Lumber company and first whistled for the Hawthorne bridge about Z:lo She blew twice for that bridge, once for the Morrison, three times for the Burnstde and twice each for the Steel and Broadway bridges. ARROW LINER REACHES PORT Steamer Navajo Brings Cement and General Cargo. i With 685 tons of cement, four auto mobiles and considerable general mer chandise In her hold, the Arrow Lino Steamer , Navajo, Captain Jacobsen, reached Albera dock at 4 o'clock yes-' terday afternoon to load lumber for her return passage to San Francisco. Captain Jacobsen la expecting that when he reaches San Francisco next week be will again be ordered to Long Beach for a completion of the work. She Is to be altered to allow of carry ing passengers.
