Hicks company estimated the cost of a new partition In Assessor Reed's of fice would be $480, but the estimate was considered too high. The commis sioners ordered that the matter be held In abeyance until Mr. Wnidden re turns to the city, i E. J. Grabs, $63 victoria street, pe titioned for the straightening out of road 803 between Bertha boulevard and the Miller's Ferry road. The petition was referred to Roadmaster Yeon. The protest of Joseph Packard con cerning the condition of a road on Sau vie's Island for about four miles be tween the Taylor place and the Howell place was - xeferred to Roadmaster Yeon. ' " j ; Whidden 8c Lewis, architects of the courthouse, advised the commission ers that they could see no reason why the board should not insist that the Lewis A. Hicks company- pay the Washington Brick, Lime & Sewer PlpJ company $15,263.17 due- for terra cot ta furnished for the courthouse. The letter was referred to District Attor- J . Assessor1 Reed reported he could see no reason why taxes -on the Gipsy Smith auditorium building should . be cancelled as requested by City Commis sioner , Brewster and the report was sent to. Commissioner Brewster. The building Is owned by the city hut oc cupies land belonging to the Kamm es tate. ' County Surveyor Holbrook reported that he believed not . more than one resident of Multnomah county - lives along the Rocky Point road, for reduc tion of grades on which J. 8. Tannock of Scappoose, Or., petitioned. He said the grades could be eliminated largely by doubling the length, now three miles, and building two miles of new road. . The report was sent to Mr. Tannock. The Fulton Park Land company pe titioned for a return of premiums , of $226.22 realized on the sale of blocks "L" and "M," Fulton Park, for taxes due. In 1900. The i petition was re ferred to District Attorney Evans. Roadmaster Yeon was directed to serve . Louis Wagner, Lents, with a copy of a letter notifying him that any attempt to close road No. 824 near Gil bert Station would be contrary to law.
