eling man's day at the Walla Walla
eonnty fair yesterday was marked by
accidents. Dr. 8. A. Fulton, who was
riding a steer In the Travelers' parade,
was unseated at Seventh and Main
streets and severely trampled by the
buoklng animal. James Maxwell, Spanish-American
war veteran and member
of th Walla Walla mounted band, was
thrown to the pavment wheiL one of
theback hoofs of his horse slipped on
a manhole cover. His leg was broken
and his head was severely cut.
While watching a mule raee at the
fair grounds, Ross McGee of Dayton
was kicked in the stomach and knocked
unconscious. He was close to the wire
fence around the track and a balky
mule ridden by one of tha traveling
men kicked through the wire.
"Frontier Days" began today. The
big event, which will be made the feat
ure of the Walla Walla county fair in
the future, was started by a big street
parade, in which the cowboys, cowglrN,
Indians, and all other contestants took
part.
This afternoon the first exhibitions of
bucklnfr, roping, bull-dodging and other
wild west stunts is being given before
the largest crowd that the local fair
grounds has known for years. "Fron
tier Days" will end Saturday night with
a big barbecue for pioneers of the
lnorthwest, wbo will be special guests
of the day. Saturday morning there
will be a pioneers' parade, in which
nearly 300 of the oldest settlers of this
locality will take part.

conspired., to marry Isaac Miller, 74
years old and in his dotage, both phys
ically andinentally incapacitated, to get
possesslaffP of the old man's property

of Miller, has brought suit In the cir
cuit court to have the marriage an
nulled. The case came before Judge Gal
loway yesterdny on a demurrer, which
the judge overruled holding that Fry
had a right to bring the uit.--
Fry alleges that Mrs. Miller, who Is
about 40 years old, hnfi as co-cousplra-tors

Eddlns of Portland. They were the wit
nesses to the marriage ceremony, which
took place at the old man's home in Au
rora, The complaint alleges that the
license was procured by tha two Kddins
without either one of the contracting

denies the allegations.
