He was riding In the smoking car, which was torn to pieces, and sat beside R. H. McMurray, the brakeman. The men had been conversing for some time, when Puthie arose and went to the rear of the car to the water tack. Then the crash came. McMurray whji killed In his seat but Duthle escapeawithout a scratch. ' T. J. Qulnn of Sacramento was also riding in the smoker and escaped by smashing a window and crawling to safety. He was injured about the face and legs. Qulnn, with J. W. Warden end his wife, were on a pleasure trip to Seattle. OREGON RANCHER S WEAPON M Y Herbert Ingalls, Clatsop Coun ty, Fatally Hurts Ex-Wife, - Kills Her Husband, Self.. (United Presi Leaiwd wire.) Seattle,, Wash., May IS. No hope is held out at the city hospital fox Mrs: Lucy Osgood, who was fatally wounded by her divorced husband, Herbert C, Ingalls, who then shot and killed her 6cond husband, Ike L. Osgood, and committed suicide last night. Both men died instantly. The woman was able to make a dying statement to Frank Roberts and James C. Palmer, neighbors attracted by the shots. Dr. P. C. Irwin was summoned and the woman removed to the hospital. , According to Mrs. Osgood, n galls, a ranchman on the Lewis and Clark river. Clatsop county, Oregon, and she were divorced three years ago. Two years ago she married Osgood; a timber land owner in Washington, Oregon and Al aska. Ingalls had been sending threat ening letters to her. He came to her house late Monday evening and opened fire without a ward. OLD FAIRY STORY, REVAMPED. AT LYRIC The old fairy story of "Cinderella," as set to music and presented with at tractive stage settings at the Lyric this week, is a highly satisfactory entertain ment. The lines, music and situations are revamped to meet the demands of up-to-date playgoers, and the pleoe is staged and costumed with a view to pleasing the eye of the audiences which are enjoying it. The Rosebud chorus shines to particular advantage, and the chorus and solo numbers are catchy and bright. Billy Onslow and Paul Stanhope play the two old maid daughters of Baron Pompallno,- and their makeup and act ing furnish continual laughter while they are on the stage. H. Guy Wood ward, as the baron, is satisfactory. Vera Alwyn makes a charming Prince Charm ing, and has song numbers which show her voice and training to good advan tage. Frltzee Guy, in the title role of the Ul treated daughter, has the advan tage of prettiness, good voice and efage presence, and Is entirely satisfactory. One of the features offered by Miss Grace Wolfe Is an attractive Spanish dance. Murray Mack plays Pedro satis actorlly, and llene Edwards, as the fairy godmother, makes the most of her lines and parts. Several fancy dance num bers, appropriate comedy and splendid effects, together with the specially good work of the orchestra, all enter into making "Cinderella" one of the most generally satisfactory offerings of the season at the popular Lyric. Special at tention has been given to the staging of the throne room scene, both in scen ery and costume, and the effects are unusually clever. Before a crowd of 200 fairs, Polly Grimm defeat ed Oscar Wasem in two Straight falls at tho Centralla armory last night The first fall was secured in 61 minutes' and the second in 18 minutes.
