Wright was sentenced to ISO days on the rockplld this morning In the municipal court for passing bogus cheeks. . The man's true name is not known, as he lias ' been worklnflr the bogus check scheme in all the coast cities, using a different name at each place. In Portland he?repr sented himself to be W. E. Wright, a secretary at the.T. M. C. 'A. He also gavo the home address of Mr. Wright, which is 653 East Thirty-ninth street, Department stores and drug stores were the victims of the man. Detectives Tich- nor and Abbott arrested the man last evening at a local drug store where he was trying to pass a 20 check. Sr. Boyd's Second ILsotur. McAllister, under three in dictments in connection with the vice scandal, was denied a motion for a change of venue by Circuit Judge Mc Glnn , yesterday, Judge McGinn held that, while the sentiment against crimes of the nature charged was general and involved all good men and women of the city he believed there was no prejudice against McAllister himself. The case has not been assigned to any judge as yet, but Judge McGinn declared this morning that ho would refuse to hear It himself. - , ! V m - , "BEAUTY" BEACH IS V , FOUND NOT GUILTY; JURY ACQUITS HIM (Continued From Pago One.) stated that her assailant struck her to the ground " with a fence picket, slashed her throat, tore a valuable set of earrings from her ears and' rushed away as her cries brought help. This Btory was at first substantiated by a negro maid. Mrs. Beach described the man making the assault as a negro of medium height, but stated that she could give no detailed description of him owing to darkness. The attack so incensed both the' nor thern visitors to Aiken and the citi zens of that town that C. Oliver Jselln, Aiken's founder as a winter resort, of fered a reward of $1000 for the cap ture of Mrs. Beach's assailant and ttat ed in an open letter that he would, be glad to participate in the lynching of the malefactor. This reward was quick ly increased by the municipality and private donors and M. S. Baughn, a de tective, was caiied in by the authorities to solve the mystery, Beach follows Wife, Baughn's findings in the case were made public in a warrant for the ar rest of Beach sworn out on April 8.
