THE OREGON DAILY JOURNAL, PORTLAND, SATURDAY T" VT T T T JULY 12,' Hi: 1 : 4 x 1 1 & a y . 1 1 NORTH BEACH - - ONO BEACH. Wash.; July 13. "''During the winter, largely through - the efforts of Miss Louise conant, money .was raised from beach property owners and used to good advantage In opening trails from the ! beach to the fishing rocks. Beard's Hol : low, and North Head. The old trail to . Beard's Hollow and North Head has been reopened and widened, a new trail has -' been made enabling persons to get on , and off the Fishing Rocks at high tide, ajid a new trail has been opened back of the Strubl cottages near the Fishing Rocks connecting with the trail leading to Beard's Hollow, North Head and the T Flahlng-Kocka; - Cooperation of Beach People. - In this climate, ferns and other shrub bery grow bo quickly that If care is not taken the trails are soon overgrown. Now that these beautiful, winding paths ara again open, beach visitors should - try-to keep-them elear. If each person j traveling on these trails would do his part toward breaking down the ferns which spring up, the trails could be kept' y permanently open. - A number of years ago one of the most beautiful and popular trails on . the. peninsula was that leading from ' . North Head to Fort Canby lighthouse, toy way of Dead Man's Hollow and McKen-- ale Head. Beach visitors, tired of city things, prefer these trails and wood land paths to macadamized 'roads and other Improvements, Indicative of the city and it seems a pity that this beau tiful trail has been neglected and al "V lowed to sink into disuse, when a small amount Of money would again place It in use.
