FOREST GROVE PIONEER - WOMAN PASSES AWAY (SMeUI to The JunroaL) Forest Grove, Or., May 21. Mrs. Am brose Porter, aged 77 years, filed at her home In thin city Saturday evening' after two days' Illness with paralysis. Mrs. Porter, whose maiden name was Mary Jnna Coverdale, was born In Can ada, February 12, 1835. Stie was left an orphan at the age of six months, and tvas taken to Illinois by an aunt. She went to Wisconsin where, in 1853, aha was married to A. W. Perry. Four children were born to the couple, Frank I'errv. of Honulam. "Wash., belne the the Union army at the outbreak of the Civil war, and was killed In battle In 1863. In 1866 Mrs. Perry was united In marriage to Ambrose Porter, also a veteran of the Civil war. Three chil dren were born to them, Mrs. L. N. Wilcox, of Scoggin's Valley; Miss Myr wtle Porter, of Forest Grove, and Mrs.' A. V. Voss, of Seattle. The Porter family came to Oregon about 25 years ago, and for a time con ducted a sawmill In Scoggln'a Valley. They moved to Forest Grove in 1892. Funeral services were held at the Meth odist church yesterday, Rev.
