DUTCH TREAT IS RULE
OF, CORNELL STUDENTS
Ithaca. N. T.. April JO. Tha "Dutch
treat" haa been established at Cornell,
and from reporta of aenlora who hava
been observing the drinking habits of
sums students, most of the undergrad
uates ara adopting the new custom.
Under the Innovation "treating" Is
sbolished. and each Imbiber pay a for
his own drinks.
The "Dutch treat" is not entirely a
novelty among students. Borne 14 years
sgo it was the custom or those who
gathered at Sclnka the Dutch, the Sen
ate and other student resorts to buy
what they wanted and pay for what
they drank. The plan worked for three
years, and then the treating system
was introduced and ran unchecked un
til a few days ago. Lraiders of student
thought long ago observed that treat
ing" hd many? to drink more than they
wanted, and at a coat that waa more
than they could actually afford.
