of the voters, 8 votes being polled.
The voting was conducted in a tent in
the middle of Main street at the inter
section of Second street, this being the
point where the three voting wards of
the town Join, one voting booth ac
commodating all in this novel way. For
mayor, J. M. Martin defeated B. A.
Hunaaker, the incumbent,- by 61 to 36.
For recorder. C A. Nelson polled ?0
votes, E. Bond one and Mrs. McNabb's
Newfoundland dog one. - E. J. Fairbanks
was elected treasurer over O. A. Kirby,
by SO to 35. For councllman-at-largo,
William Davis defeated C. A. Strong, re
ceiving 52 votes to S3 for his opponent
In-ward One, J- F. Hoover received
II votes to 1 for W. Berdlne, the let
ter's name having been written, on the
ticket.
In ward Two, C A. Ptelzer received
17 votes, E. Benton S3, R. Tats II and

Oregon Agricultural college yesterday
morning, said some important changes
should be made In the method "of secur
ing support for the state institutions
of higher learning and briefly; outlined
the plan he has already submitted to
the state board, lie also said he de
sired to have ,the Agricultural college
cooperate with the state officials in
managing the state Institution farms,
this being one of the matters which, he
discussed with President Kerr In the

Langdon Morse, a former Cottage Grove
business man, who moved to Portland
in 1891, waa tx-ought here for burial
yesterday, having died at Portland the
day before after a lingering Illness with;
cancer of the stomach. The ' funeral
waa held yesterday afternoon from the
M. E. church under auspices of the O.
A, R. Mr. Morse was In partnership
here with H, K. Metcalf for some time.
