Attorney John H. Fredericks toaay an nounced that he had requested the dis trict attorney of Albuquerque, to lsaue a warrant for he arrest of B. Hanerstarn, a brother-in-law of Attor ney Clarence Darrow. The witness, according to Fredericks, is D. K Dlekleman. who was a clerk at the Baltimore hotel here the night it la charged that James B. McNamara reg istered there as J. B. Bryce. According to Fredericks. Hanerstarn, acting for Darrow, approached Diekle man while the latter was working as a waiter In an Albuquerque restaurant and gave him $400, bought him a ticket to Chicago and promisea mm a ju u. week position when he arrived there. Fredericks says that Diekleman and Hanerstarn today are on their way to Chicago. "Dlekleman." explained Darrow to day, "was never a wltnesB before the grand Jury. It is true that I sent Hanerstarn to learn what Dlekleman knew of the case, because I knew that I could trust my brother-in-law. We made no effort to bribe, nor did we give Mm money or promise him a position." ALASKA SHOULD GOVERN HERSELF So Says Congressman Sulzer; Most People Do Not Know Big Territory, He Says. (United P" Leased' Wire.) San Franolsoo, Sept Si. After having pent a month month studying the con ditions at first hand In Alaska. Con gressman William Sulzer of New York, ta her today from the north. Bulser Is a firm believer In home rule for Alaska, He believes that It should be divided Into three territories with proper representation in Washington.' 'It Is the misfortune of Alaska." Bulxer said, "that tha people of this country do not know it better. They have been misled by Ignorance, small fry politicians and tha muckraking magazines. "Alaska has now mors than 18,000 white Americans and Is as deserving of' horns rule as any territory in the union." Sulzer favors the handling of the Alaska coal fields just as the coal lands of this country are handled. "We should not permit the leasing of those valuable lands," he said. Charles Hlrsch pleaded guilty to an Indictment charging him with gambling and paid a fine of $50 and costs. f"cll Tiffany and Kannic Hall, indloted on the charge of conducting a disorderly house, were arraigned before the circuit Judge this morning. This Is the outcome of a crusade that has been waged here for the past month for the cleaning up of the district es tablished In the heart of the town for many years. Much bitter feeling has been aroused over the action taken for the removal of the district from its present location. Many attempts have before been made, but until this time no oonvlctions had been secured. POLICE CHIEF WATKINS BADLY BURNED BY WIRE (Special to The Journal.) Forest Grove, Or., Sept. 21. P. W. Watklna, chief of police of this city, received a shock from a live electric wire yesterday which rendered him un conscious for some time, and badly burned the flesh on his hands. Mr. Watklns was removing some old wires In the local Christian church building, when the wire he had hold of came in contact with a wire carrying over 10, 000 volts. Only to the fact that he was wearing heavy gloves was his life saved, and as it Is he is sore from head to foot, besides suffering Intensely from the burns In his hands.
