ing berths until after their chances- of
joining the flahlng. fleet have paaaed.

able, a ahlp will be sent north to re
place the Janes Howea, which foun
dered In Chlgnlkibay on April I. Aa
all or the crew and moat of the sup
plies on the Howea were saved, the
new veerael will travel north with only
her sailing crew and with but little
cargo.

Following an absence from this port
of almost a month, tha gasoline schoon
er Ytnihelmlna, Captain George Tyler,
came up the river yesterday afternoon
nd berthed at tha Washington street
dock. Tha veaael haa been undergo
ing repairs at Coos Bay which delayed
her schedule 10 days. She leaves her
for Caos Bay tomorrow and will return
so aa to resum. her broken schedule by
leaving here again on May 1.
On the trip up the coast. Captain
Tyler reports that his vessel waa almost
eontlnuoualy In heavy weather, wast-
lleved that conditions would chang erly and northwesterly winds, with
heavy aeaa prevailed all the way mak
ing tha trip up aa unpleasant one.

Work on Upper River and Yamhill.
After completing snagging work on
the upper Willamette and the Tamhlll
rlvere, tha United Btatea snagboat
Mathlnma Is on her way to thta city.
She will relocate the bnOy at Clackamaa
Rapids today and will probably arrive
here tomorrow.
Next week aha will assume her
dredging gear preparatory to returning
p the river to engage In deepening tha
channel at Coffee Chute.

probably be moved from the Alblna dock
this afternoon to Montgomery No. S.

The eteamer Golden date, Captain
Ertckson, arrived from Tillamook last
night She la berthed at the Washing
ton street dock and will leave out again

400 cases of cheese and soma mleoel
laneous cargo.
The gas schooner Anvil font Bandon
and way porta, arrived here last night
at I o'clock and mads fait to the Al-

The ateamer Coaster cleared in and

Captain H. y. Astrup today relieved
Captain J. B. . Heilson as commander
of the steamer Cruiser. The Cruiser
belongs to the Union Bridge Con
struction company and is being used to
tow the bargee bringing material to the
workings at tha new Broadway bridge
The light house tender Manaanlta left
out ef the river thle morning carrying
supplies to Lightship 81, stationed at
the mouth of the Columbia river. '
