Here the tides: of the ocean fheet with vessels from all parts of the earth to exchange business with the railroads. These railroads sur round the Peninsula, with the greatest center at McKenna Junction and University Park, suburbs which have been within the city of Portland fop 20 years and have all the fa cilities of a modern city. McKehna Junction All the Portland and Puget Sound busfnegs from the East over the Union Pacific and O. R. & N. railroads will run to McKenna Junction for segrega tion. The trains will be broken up here. The Portland business will be forwarded through the tunnel to Portland and the Sound business over the Colum bia bridge to Its destination. The Oregon & Washington Railroad has purchased 60 v acres of land at McKenna Junc tion for break-up yards, freight yards and roundhouse. This will give employment to a large force of men, who will seek homes near their work.
