such that Portland wholesaler need feel
no hesitancy in embarking on an actlv
campaign to secure this business. The
records for last year ahow that Port
land shipped about $71,009 worth of
goods to Alaska. Puget aound shipped
S13.686.2S7 worth of doraestlo merchan

cures no credit whatever, the only ship
ments showing being those by occa
sional steamer from thla city to Alas

the late George Campbell with the local

shortstop for th famous Gilt Edges
of Sacramento for several years, during

and wound up his career In the Texaa
three year ago. He played his last ball
for Beaumont and (afterwards becam
an umpire. He was 83 yers of age.
