FUNERAL OP PIONEER TO BE HELD SUNDA1 ' ' (Special Dispatch to Tbe loaraaL) Albany, Or., Aug. II. The body of John Foshay... who died suddenly yeater day at Newport of heart failure, was brought to Albany on the noon train. Deceased was one of Albany's best known pioneers and had taken an ac tive part In the building up of the city. Foabay was born in 1837, near St. John New Brunswick, and was edu cated at the St John college. About 60 years ago he went to California, where he worked In San Francisco drug houses. In 1865 he came to Oregon ana taught school In different cities, finally coming to Albany In 1872, and entered the drug business the following year. In 187s : he entered partnership with D. P. Ma son, and the- firm name' of Foshay & Mason still exists although Mr. Foshay retired In 1900. . - John Foshay was a school director, of the Albany district for 10 years, retir ing at the last June election. - He Is survived by three daughters, Mary and Anna of this city, and Mrs. Nellie Doug lass of Clarkston, Wash., and a son.
