Beoonamended to Meroy Charles
Beott Robinson was declared guilty of
burglary by a Jury in Judge Catena'
department of the circuit court yester
day afternoon. He was recommended
to the mercy of the court, and will be
sentenced Friday mornlns-. He ad
mitted walking Into a rooming; house
on juar if, out saia ne was intoxicate!
and did not intend to rob the prfce.
He is now serving a term of one year
at the rock pile on a plea of guilty to
larceny in another case.
Br. Baffety Beslgns-Dr. C. H. Raf
fety resigned from the city water board
yesterday afternoon but his resigna
tion which was to take effect June SO,
was not accepted by the board, it being
laid on the table. Dr. Raffcty Is soon
to take a trip to Europe and he resigned
in order that another man could be
placed in his stead before the new ad
ministration cornea In. Dr. Raffety has
been a member of the water board for
16 years.
Divorce After BS Tears. Evangeline
Brown has begun suit for divorce from
Henry J. Brown, alleging that he de
serted her after 6 years of married life.
The defendant is a draftsman in the
employ of the O. W. P. company, and
they were married in Ontario, Canada,
in 1880. The desertion is alleged to
have taken place In 190. The plaintiff
asks for 11000 alimony, $160. attorney
fees, the custody of their two children
and 340"3fiir month for their support.

fait Over Suitcase ".Judge Gantenbetn
In the circuit court is. hearing the case
of Dorsey B. Smith against the Pull
man ,eompany. i. Smith lost a suitcase
from car between Terre Haute and
Chicago, and asks 1150 damages for the
alleged negligence of the company. The
defense of the company Is that Smith
himself wu negligent because he sent
the porter of the car tome distance to
purchase a ticket and that the suitcase
disappeared while the latter was gone.
