Soon after the acquisi tion of the Philippines by the United States he offered himself for mis sionary ' service and was sent to the islands. He served there but one year, as ill health drove him back to America. He served as dean of the cathedral of All Saints till January 1, 1109. when he reslamed to accent the Dositlon of rector of 8t.
