The launches are considered a menace to navigation and It Is requested that coastwise shipping be warned. Announcement has been made by the passenger depart ment of the Great Northern Steamship company that tne steamer Minnesota will next year call at Manila on the outbound trip. The Dig liner will proceed, as at Dres- ent, to Yokohama. Kobe, Nagasaki and Shanghai and from the latter port to Manila, thence to Hong Kong, which will remain the oriental terminal nort. The French bark Bossuet arrived In the harbor last nleht with 2000 tons of coal from Newcastle, Australia. She went to the coal bunkers to discharge. About 1000 tons of coal were discharged at Astoria. The Bossuet reached Columbia river several days ao after an uneventful voyage from tha Australian port.
