Worth Kern, defeated candidate for the
vlce-presldeiicy, will probably ge to the
United States senate as the successor of
Senator' Hemenway, according to the
returns today.
Though Taft. tarried the state by
from 6,000 to 10.000, the' incomplete re
turns indicate that' Marshall. Demo
crat for governor, has a majority of
from 20.000 to 30,000 and It seems as
sured that ths legislature will be Demo
cratic. The movement for the election of
Kern to the senate has already been
started by the Democratelc leaders and
only an astounding reversal of results
by later - returns, it seems, pan prevent
the election of Bryan's running mate.
Representative Overstreet of the
Seventh district, chairman of the house
committee on mails, has probably been
defeated, though the returns are Incom
plete and the result may be changed.

This ratio gives Hadley the city by 15,
