At Palnts- vllle, Ky., George Stafford and his three children were burned to death In their home laat night Mrs. Stafford tried to escape from the burning building by Jumping from a window on the second floor. Her neck was broken by the fall. Stafford was seen struggling toward one of the windows with two of the hlldmn In hta arms. He had reached the sill when a swirl of fire and smoke shut him from view. He was not seen again alive. Mrs. Stafford succeeded In reaching a front window. Before preparations could be made to break her fall tho frantic woman leaped to the ground. She died shortly afterward. The Staffords were well known In this section of the state. Very few man and woman buy more than one piano or other musical Instru ment in a lifetime. Thla ia the reason why there are not many who are posted upon piano valuea and piano-selling con ditions. Thla la the reaaon, alao, we may add. why ao much misinformation in regard to this business Is permitted to oe circulated. - with the aid of manufacturer repre sented by Ellers Piano House, a moat far-reaching campaign of piano adver tilting and plano-nnllTng will be Inaugu rated tomorrow afternoon. It will pay to secure an extra copy or rne journal on that day. Many will be given oppor tunity to secure a piano or other mu sical instrument rree. Numerous points not now thoroughly understood by the publlo will be care- Tully explained. It will be a looking' behind-the-scenes," as It were. Competition in the piano trade la se vere. The more or leas plausible argu ments for the purpose of effecting sales will be presented and analysed. The situation pertaining to branch ouses and- consignment agencies, and their Inability to compete openly with a concern such as JKllers 1'iano House, will be Impartially explained. The system of selling through com mission agents, ana parties who pose aa experts, and Its cost to tne buyer, will be exposed. - Much light will be thrown upon the "wholesaling" of pianos to retail buy erb. Some astonishing exposures of "con fidential" (!) discounts of "holier-than-thou" houses, claiming for themselves much virtue as a "one-price" house (meaning In reality almost a double price) will be made. The many mysterious and really flim sy claims for superiority of this or that make will be dissected. In short, a careful and unbiased an alysis will be made In this article and subsequent ones, which we believe will demonstrate to any thinking man and woman in th weat that if all dealers were awar of the altuatlon, not to aay honeat In their representations and ad missions, there would be but one place in Oregon supplying the musical wanta of the weat which concern, needless to say, would be tilers flano House. We realize fully that the northwest la developing rapidly. Thouaanda of homes are being established each month which should be posted upon the ques tion of piano and musical Instrument buying. we are not blind to the fact that the piano trade cannot possibly be centered altogether In one house. Nor do we wish to have it appear that we deny any honest concern the right to pursue a straightforward musical Instrument business. But the buyer has a right to know aa to where he or she Is able to do the best for him or herself. From Its inception It has been the , object of Ellers Piano House to furnish the very best or everything in the mu- i slcal Instrument line at the lowest dos- 1 slble cost Ellers Piano House haa the facilities In every way to do this. Eilers Piano House possesses advan tages which no other organisation en joys. The record shows that out or 10.000 Instruments sold, 7,750 were supplied by Eilers Piano House; 2,251 came from all other houses combined. In the forthcoming campaign it will be our aim to give the widest possible publicity to tne situation as we aee it, with a view also to still further In creasing the percentage of total sales in our favor. It will be an Interesting campaign. and we" repeat it will pay to read care fully tomorrow afternoon's Journal, and to order an extra copy. B1LEBB PIANO HOUSE.
