That probably acoounts for tho excited re- fiort made to the police early this morn ng by Oeorge C. Miller, proprietor of tho saloon at 281 Grand avenue, that a masked man had attempted to hold up his place of business. At least, that is tho view taken by Captain of Detectives Baty. Miller reported that he noticed that tho door opening upon Hawthorne ave nue was partly open and he went to close It. Just as he reached it a man, his face hidden by a mask made of a white handkerchief, tried to enter. Miller slammed the door shut in the man's face. Tho latter tried to push It open, but Miller held it desperately. Then the highwayman gave up his at tempt at this door and went around to the Grand avenue entrance. Miller Immediately scuttled out of tha Hawthorne avenue door and ran to a telephone to call up the police. When he returned with the officers there was no one' in the saloon. Although Miller saw only a man masked In a white handkerchief, the description of the sup- fosed robber is said to correspond with hat of the highwayman who held up Husebv and the seven men In his sa loon Saturday night Too much nerves Is Captain Baty's diagnosis of the situation. 64H 83H f? $VC Per U Q) Ton For Range or Frnace Washed and Screened No Soot No Dirt F.
