la the statement given out by T. W,
'Ayer, a Pendleton man. who la heavily
Interested In the property. Mr. Ayer
has been In Baker attending to details
regarding the mine, ,;.
The Gold Cola Is one of those mining
properties which ha been 111 fated np to
the present time. Located and devel
oped as a Quarts mine, a mm was
erected and in a six days run $1,200 wea
taken rrorn tne plates, xnen came trou
ble. A rancher had some farm land a
distance below the mill and he claimed
that the muddy, water and tailings in
jured his premises. He accordingly en
joined the - Gold Coin people and tied
them up. The case went to the circuit
court, and the rancher was beaten, but
the supreme court reversed the lower
eourt'a finding. '
Then the mine owners conceived 4he

On the Fourteenth street auarter-
block the structure will rise to a height
of six stories, and for the present the
remainder of the bulldlne will be two
stories, with' foundation and walls of
sufficient strength to support four ad
ditional stories when . required. The
building Is to be of fireproof construc
tion: the outside walls to be of brick
with steel Interior frame and concrete
floors. The total cost of the building
will approach the $200,060 mark, and
together with the original cost of thrs

a ladder In a dwelling at Mount Tabor,
Is reported to be making satisfactory
progress toward recovery.
Mr. Knighton is now taking contrac
tors' estimates for the tiipman, Wolfe
& CC. building to be erected at Fifteenth
and Glisan streets at a cost of about
$60,000. The building when completed
