Dim ftk of Oregon City will deliver lecture at the business offices of the school on In accrodance with the ruling of tha county court no more cars with trail ers will cross the Madison street bridge after tomorrow. A great deal of money has been expended recently in an at tempt to keep this bridge In repair, but it is the belief of the county commis sioners that the old structure has be come unfit to withstand the constant strain of the loaded cars with their trailers. The Estacada cars have been running on Sunday with as many as four trailers, and, according to Judge Webster one of the best ways to avoid a corious accident Is to cut down the enormous traffic which crosses this bridge. Some time ago the Portland Railway. Light & Power company was presented by the county court with a bill for 11,000 as their share of the expense brought about by making repairs on the bridge, but as yet no response has been forthcoming from the company. Coun ty Commissioner Lightner explained this morning that the raise in rent of $250 a month on the Burnslde bridge waa caused ror tnis reason. In thla way, he figures, the county will be re paid for the expense of repairing the Madison street brldce. "It nmv. h. little Indirect." said Mr. Lightner this morning, out n catcnes tiiem just the smile, uuesn 1 11 : A stir of excitement has been aroused among the friends of Rev. G. F. Hough ton who have been especially concerned about his disappearance on or about September 18. Yesterday it came out through one of his neighbors that Con ductor J. E. Mr. Feak says the aged minister rode on bis car sometime between September 21 and 26, and be thought about September 23. The car waa returning to town from WllUmettn Heltrhts The conductor, who Is a member of the Epworth church which haa auffered most by Mr. Houghton's failure to ap near with . his promised money, knew the minister well and spoke to him, but received no response. He said after ward that he had noticed something queer about the old man, who merely looked at him with a strange express sion and acted as one might whose mind was affected. He did not notice where Mr. Houghton got off and at that time he did not know the minister waa supposed to be missing. Thla Incident has Inclined to turn the minds of those searching for him to ward tha theory that his mind Isi af fected. On Inquiry at the home of Mrs. Boddle, 611 Morrison street, where Mr. Houghton had a room. It developed that the guests there had noticed some pe culiar actions and had heard him say peculiar things, , Rev. C. C.
