Mr. MeKenna doea not think well of
either the Des Molnea or Galveston form
of government. He thinks that experi
ence taken from the trouble of - San
Francisco and other cities which hava
a centralised form of government, should
show the people of Portland these plana
will not do.

The first annual meeting of the Bast
Forty-fifth atreet Baptlat church waa
held last night with a large attendance
of members. The church was organized
September 16, 1907, with 28 charter
members. The pastor. Rev. B. Clarence
Cook, began work with the church
April 1. 1907. In January a lot waa
secured for 1600 and a frame buildlna-
erected. The property is now worth
12,200 and has no Indebtedness. The
membership has. meanwhile increased
from 28 to 62. The church has a Blblj

John Logan, a negro bartender at
the Sargent hotel, appeared In the
Justice court this morning charged
with tho larceny of 17.60. The com
plaining witness Is Irwin Gordon, a
guest of the hotel, who claims that the
negro did mm out or that amount.
Gordon irwln. according to the story
told by Logan, eat down In the dining

bottle of wine. He lost and gave the
negro $10, out of which to take $2.60
to pay for the wine. The negro says
he could not change the coin and tossed
the gold piece on the floor, telling Ir
