C P. Hall operated a few pens, about
three In number. Shortly afterward tha
jard covered an acre.

1881,' and operated them until 187, at
which time they covered two acres. Mr.
Burke sold hi Interest the beginning
if 1897 and for the past 12 year they
have been under practically the earns
management, and at this time cover
about three acres.
' The ground , on which the yards are
now located was sold in 1906 to the
North Bank road, which necessitated
their removal, and later the same year to
acre were secured adjoinglng the pack
ing house location on the peninsula,
where new yard are now In the course
of construction, at a coat of something

Prior to 1887. the St. Joeetih. Miv

land yard. There were a number of
mall packing house the latter changed,
hands a number of time and were fre
quently Idle.
In 1897 they were reorganized; three
large packing housea locating there,
which hava been very much enlarged
since, and are making addition and ex
tensions every year.
In the year 1897, first of reorganisa
tion, receipts were 7,768 cars of live
Stock; In 1807 it had Increased to 64,127,
