COMMISSION WILL
HEAR ABOUT QUARREL
The state railroad commission will go
to Ooble tomorrow to settle a neigh
borhood quarrel as to whether a new
flag stop station shall be maintained
by the Astoria 4 Columbia River at
Tide Creek or at Warrens. Residents
of both places are -anxious to have
the Goble line of the A. A C. R. make
their atation a flag stop, but It Is not
probable that both can be accommo
dated. The commission will hear the
claims of both sides before recommend-j

Judge Cleland this afternoon granted
a voluntary non-suit in the case of Ed
ward PUnklewisch. administrator of the
estate of Otto Brandies against the
Portland Railway. Light gt Power com

of Brandea. Brandea was killed by a
trolley car, and the plaintiff as adminis

Commercial club and at 2 -o'clock the
ladles will be met by the members of
the Portland Women's club and taken by
them and by Manager Freeman of the
Oaks on a special car to the Oaks where

COURTNEY CASE
BEFORE JURY
When the case of Dr. J. S. Courtney,
accused pf malpractice responsible for
the death of Stella Bennett, was taken
up by the grand Jury this morning,
some of his friends were present to in
tercede for him. Dr. Courtney, who
waa brought back to Portland from In
diana, where he had gone as a delegate
to tho convention of the Ancient Order
of Hibernians, was himself a witness
before the Jurors. Father Black and
Father Gregory appeared in his behalf
and the former obtained a hearing.

accused of larceny by embezzlement.
