Each mine is n whole congregation of

must be calculated bv its own individual
factors.
Of mining: promoters, boomers and

men who supply the money, brains
and faith-devoted vears to methodical,
Intelligent development of a single min

of great mines Their scarcity Is not
due to lack of minerals in its hills.
But to develop these ore bodies into
paving mines, requires Qualities of
brain and character that are rare among
men. And when the work Is done, as
this kind of work usually is done, with
out flourish of trumpets and bomblla

Of the Oalfpoola mountains, on the
coast fork of the Willamette river,
16 miles south of Cottage Grove, a
great mine has been carved out of

It baa taken 10 long years of faith

yellow metal, to do It; but a great in

give lucrative employment to men anJ
sustenance for their families, probably
for many long years after the man who
has pioneered it has been gathered to
his fathers.
Against all odds, discouragements
