The bond provides for the raising of $3,000,000 for a pipe Hne and reservoirs. A report compiled by County Clerk Fields on the work of his office for the last six months shows that the re ceipts were about $300 less than for the corresponding period last year. The loss Is all In the circuit court depart ment, where $8,635 was taken In, against $9,643 In the first six months of 1907. The recording department makes the best showing, with an Increase from $16,064 to $16,604, while the receipts from the county department grew from $6,578 to $6,736. The profit to the county for the six months was $20,200. The number of marriages from Janu ary 1 to July 1 was 1,021, and the number of divorces 201. Two hundred and ten notarial commissions were re corded and 385 Issued. Articles of In corporation recorded numbered 244. Three liquor licenses were issued, 21 medical licenses placed on record, 12 dental licenses, 46 licenses for sale of opium and "45 permits for hunting. One of the most notable features of the period covered In the report Is the rush of the foreign born for natur alization papers. There have been 530 declarations of Intention within the last six months, against 428 in the same period last year, 344 In a like period In 1906, and 214 for corresponding time In 1905. The number admitted to citi zenship from January to July was 57. The number of Instruments recorded was 13,320 and the number of marginal releases 2.072. The number of cases filed in the circuit court was 1,076 and the number of probate cases was 302. Unfortunates to the number of 105 were committed to the Insane asylum, an in crease of 32 over the same period last year.
