William JSohmldt. the postal order fraud who was sent to McNeil's Island 30 months ago for raising a money order, was brought before the United States district court yesterday on a similar Indictment. He Is absolutely without money, relatives or friends, and during his term of Imprisonment has lost eight of one eye and Is rapidly los ing the sight of the other. D. J Haynes, his attorney, appealed to the clemency of the court because of his destitute condition and his approaching blindness. He was given the minimum sentence two vears more at McNeil's Island. O. Evans, assist ant United States district attorney, and Mr. Haynes have Interested themselves In the case and vyill attempt to get him pardoned within a few months. They say It is po Impregnated with Jme that it Is im possible to use the water for washing purposes; that when soap is put in the water a scum Is formed, and that there are other substances In it besides the lime which the water company protests makes strong men. The use of the well water was necessitated because the sup ply of Bull Hun was not sufficient for the demand in that district.
