A shallow trough of low pressure ex
tends from British Columbia Houth and
southwest to California, thence ea-st
through Arizona Rnd New Mexico and
thence northeastward to the upper lake
region. The barometer is relatively
hlg;h off the mouth of the Columbia
river and over Montana and portions
of the adjoining states. It is also rela
tively high in the Atlantic states from
Maine to Florida. Showers and thun
derstorms have occurred in southern
Nevada, northern Arizona, and New
Mexico, and rain, heavy in places, has I
fallen in the lowor Mississippi valley.
Light showers have occurred in the
eastern portion of the Imkotas. norlh
western Minnesota, ajid in the northern
portion of the New England states.
Nearly normal temperatures prevail ev
erywhere In the United States except
