n THE OREGON DAILY JOURNAL, PORTLAND. FRIDAY EVENING, JULY 81, 1908. LABOR LEADERS LET III SECRET Trench Strikers Prepare Radical Program Situa tion Very Grave. (Totted Prn 1-sased Wlr.) Paris. July SI Committer of all the labor organizations and the general labor federation held secret meetings today to take action regarding a clash between strikers and soldiers at Vlg eux yesterday. The leaders refuse to srty what their plana are but there la no doubt they have adopted some plan for a drastic campaign. The government looks upon the situation as more aorloua than It 'as yesterday. Two of the strikers wounded In the fighting at Vlgneux Thursday died to day, making a total of eight deaths resulting from the rioting Several of the Injured are not expected to live. Government officials are conducting n Investigation 'Into the cause of the troubles and using every possible means to prevent another outbreak. Which seems Imminent. There Is ,a strong feoling against the la bor organizations among certain government officials, however, and It is not generally nenevea mat a settle ment can be readied without great difficulty.
