THE OREGON DAILY JOURNAL. PORTLAND, FRIDAY EVENINO, JULY 31. 1908. It 4 2 RANSANS FIGHT 1ST BOSSES Sonatorship, and Governor ship Involved in Strug gle Before Primaries. (Special PUpstrh to Tb Joornil.l Topeka, Kan., July 81. One of the most interesting Republican campaign! that Kansas hua known In many veura la practically ended, ana from end to mid tha atate Is awaiting with the keen est Interest the results of tho general primary n:xt Tuesday. In Its outcome Is involved the governorship and the question of who shall be the Kepuhllcan senator from this state to succeed Chester I. l,oig. There Is also Involved tho nomination of candidates for minor ante offices, for electors, for congress, for legislative, county and township places. Senator Long la opposed In his con test for reelection by Joseph L. Brlstow, who was formerly fourth assistant tioKtmastei-Keneral. For a number of weeks the rival aaplrants have been en guged In a lively campnlgn thflt has carried them to every coiner of tha state. The managers of flirt Lo.ng cam- aign appear to feel every confidence n the result. Nevertheless they have taken no chance of becoming victims of overconfldence and they are keeping up the fight with unabated vigor to the very end. Booseyelt's Man ti. Machine. The IiOnp forces have had the benefit of a splendid political organisation wmi extends Its ramifications through every count v of Kansas. They exnoct to win by a good safe majority that will leave no doubt as to the result. The Hrlstow forces, on the other hnnd, are likewise claiming the victory, though their claims are not so expansive as the Long claims. Brlstow has made a good fight for the toga, niul his friends expect him to show up well In the primary, even though he may not win out: His at tacks on Senator Long undoubtedly have given that statesman some anxious mo menta. President Roosevelt Is exceed ingly popular with the Republicans of Kansas, ana Mr. uristow im maao one at his strongest points against his op ponent by Ifarglng the senator with in sincerity In his support of the presi dent and his policies. He also charges Senator Long with being In too close1 sympathy with the railroads and other large corporations. Square Deal Mai for Governor. The contest for tho Republican nom ination for governor to succeed Gov ernor R. W. lloch is even mure bitter than the, senatorial struggle. In the gubernatorial contest the lines are sharply drawn. The two candidates me W It Stlihbs and Cyrus I. eland Stubbs has condifcted his fight bv waging war on the machine' element. Me nclalina himself a'sfiuaro dealer and pleads for honesty ami decency In the cnri-ltict of state affairs. He has ar raigned those In power as the leaders of a fartlnn that has bartered public offices ns so much morchnndlse. Ho savs It Is time to get away from the old system f grafting and boodllng If the Republican party Is to be saved from defeat. And he points to himself as the instrument through which the po litical reform' may be accomplished. He charges the machlrje with having blocked all reform legislation until he and his band of aqua re dealers canio to the legislature and demanded and forced the reform measures now on tho statute hooks. Ho declares that If hp Is elected governor, Kansas will lend the stites of tho union In greater reforms for the people. Xing' of Practical Politician!. Cyrus Trfdand, tbe opponent of Stubbs, was formerly the national Republican committeeman from Kansas and a per sonal friend and adviser of President WcKlnley. He has lived In Kansas more than 50 years and has contributed more to the state's political history than iny other citizen. He Is a practi cal politician and his organisation roaches every voting precinct In the ptate. His namo Is ns famous to Kan sans as is that of Joseph O. Cannon of Illinois, or 'William R Allison of Iowa. SUB RUE III PAYTOH'S PUCE Pacific Fleet Commander Kelieved and Will Hetire in October. (Rixclil DUpatrh to Tb Journal.) Washington. D. C. July SI. Between Stubbs, the representative of the LaFollette school of politics, and Leland, the "practical" politician, the Issue is clean cut. Stubbs extents to win through an uprising and a whirl wind, which his political opponents be lieve will not materialize In next Tues day's primary. Leland must win through his superb organization, which admittedly never was In better shape to bring about success at the pons. Pacific Coast League. Won. Lost. In working out my methods, I held the theory that 'WEAKNESS."' for Instance, was not a constitution al or funotlanal ailment, but a proetatlo affeotlon, and therefore, merely looal. I reasoned that Its 00 n cbnstltutlooal effect were lmly the reeults of a tremendous waate of energy due to Inflammation of the prostate rland; that this belnf true, a local treat ment could alone effect a cure. Thereupon I devised the treatment I employ today with such marked success. Indeed, 1 nave never Known tnis treatment to fall to effect a complete and permanent cure in a comparatively short time. My Fee for a Cure Is In Any Uncom plicated Cas Pay Me When Cured No Man Need Be Weak My treatment for other diseases peculiar to men are alao alont orlclnal Unas, and are equally successful. Henoe, I reiterate that ao man naad ba WEAK and AILING. My Special Treatment Is an open door to manly vljor and all the pleasures that belong to perfeot health. Any man roar avail himself of my service. It has been and Is my life's work to aid affllctad men,' alleviate their suffering and reatore them to haalth and vigor. I nav therefore placed the chsrge for my services within the eaay reach of any man, 110 aiattor what his clroumetancee. To PROVE faith, I WILL WAIT FOK MT FEK t'NTIL YOU ARE CURED. No man could be fairer than that. I take all the risk. You take none whatever. You have vrythln- to am and absolutely nothing to lose. Delay Is Dangerous Men whose vitality Is exhausted, those who have omo private dlseaa or weakness lurking fn their system, and who are prematurely old, while atlll young In years broken down wrecks of what they oujjht to be, and who want to he strong and to feel as vigorous aa they did before they wasted their strength, to enjoy life aaln. to win baok the vim, vigor and vitality lost, should consult with me before It la too lata. My Direct-Method Treatment Offers a Positive CURE for Every Ailing: Man I Cure "Weakness" "Weakness" 1 not a nervous disorder, demanding a tonlo system or treat ment but Is merely a aymptom of chronlo inflammation or congestion In the prostate gland. This condition exist as a result of early dissipation or some Improperly treated contracted disorder, and requires carefully directed local measures only. By my own original methods the prostate gland la quickly restored to Its normal tate, which results In full and oomplete re turn of strength and vigor. My cures are permanent because the condition responsible for the functional disorder Is entirely removed and I am con vinced that by no treatment othor than my own carefully directed local measures Is a radical cure of this ailment possible. Contracted Disorders The serious reaults that may follow neglect of contracted disease could be scarcely exaggerated. Safety demands an absolutely thorough cure In the least possible time. I have treated more cases of contracted disorder than any other physician upon the Pacific coast. My cures are thorough and ar accomplished in less time than other forms of treatment require in produc ing even doubtful reeults. I employ remedies of my own devising, and my treatment is equally effeotlv in both recent and ohronlo case. I also permanently oqre SPECIFIC BLOOD POISON, STRICTURE, NERVO DEBILITATION AND ALL REFLEX AILMENTS. Consultation and Diagnosis Free I do not charge for advice, examination or diagnosis.
