FURNISH NORTH QUITE EASILY Latest News of Oregon Crops NORTHWEST WEATHER FORECAST Oregon Probably ahawers tonight or i uesuay: not so warm Interior west i ium(, nui mvj warm uiionur Oregon Will nave More Pn.ln TVvnrtia rni.An TTo- continued warm : westerly ual to Sell Alaska Trade. Tuea winds, tonight; warmer eolith Tuesday fair and con Wholesale market features: Alaska potato demand coming. Fine poultry demand. Eggs holding steady. Lambert cherries better. Crawford peaches lower. Manv tomato quotations. Big drop in watermelons. Cantaloupe market holding. Better quality apples coming. Sharp advance in provisions. Alaska Fotato Demand In Bight. Oregon will be prepared this season to take much better care of the huge northern demand for potatoes than ever before. The crop of potatoes Is not only liberal, but the early produc tlon Is the greatest ever chown here. Some lnaulries are already being re ceived from Alaska regarding the sup plies that Oregon will nave during the time of the northern call, and dealers all agree that We will be able to take care ori practically au Dusiness onerea us. There is no doubt at this time mat Oregon "potato men have learned quite well the lessons of good sorting of po tatoes, for their experience during the past season is not one that can easily be forgotten even by the roost absent minded. It was due to the most un usual mod packing that almost all of uregon a big crop, as well as those or Idaho and Washington, were cleaned up the past season. It was a case of quality all the way through, and the growers wllto undoubtedly repeat their good pucking.thls year. Emoellenl Tone in Chickens, There la a most excellent tone in the Chicken market at this time. The de mand la the greatest In recent months wnlle the receipts a week ago were far mora liberal than the trade had an ticipated, there was scarcely sufficient supplies to go around, and In conse quence a higher range of values Is rul lng. For the general run of chickens the trade la easily obtaining prices that range Deiween lacffnc a pound, ana It takes a poor crop to brlna- the for mer figure. For springers the trade seems almost famished, so good a price Is being; obtained. While last week's arrivals of hens and mixed coops .were more liberal, there was a scarcity of springers, and today s market Is very firm around 20c a pound. 'There Is quite a good .demand tor spring- ducks and geese around 1315c for the for mer and 1012Hc for the latter, but In neither line, Is there much call for uiu biuck at lower prices. Eg-if Market Is Steady, In the egg market a steady tone la ruling along Front street, the same values as on Baturday being generally obtained. Receipts or first-class stock are very scanty and this may force an advance In that line, but a large per cent of the arrivals are In poor shape and may sell lower. Cheese market is firm, but Front street handlers have as yet made no move toward advancing their figures. creamery muter market Is holding Idaho Fair east portion. tinuea warm. Albany, Or., July 20. Crop In Linn county are the best of any late year. Immense yields are reported from every section of the county in horticulture and agriculture. The biggest crop of hay ever harvested Is bains- cared for. and even now the busy hum of the binder as It cuts Its way through the ripenen grain can De neard on all sines. A better year for the farmer could hardly be asked. A srenera.1 feeling of ui;iii"inni prevails ana L.inn county ana me wuiamette valley does not rear a fianlc or look forward to any shortage n crops. The prune crop, which was mougnt to nave been Dractlcallv de stroyed, will now make a good crop In this section, as a close Investigation has revealed more than half a crop. As to hops, while the price is not encourag ing, tne yield promises to be heavy and all Indications point to the develop ment .of hoDS of the finest nosslble quality. . A general change has taken plane In Linn county as to farming methods. A few years ago practically no c,lover v an wan unuK raised ami Krowra in the county now on all sides of the principal highways leading through the valley can be seen hundreds of acres of this crop. Alsyke and red clover are tne two k nds general v e-rown. Mnt of the clover is now grown for seed as it brings fancy prices in the eastern markets. As high as f 8 per bushel has Deen pain ior me seed in thin city. A local firm last season shlrmed eArlnad nfter carload of this seed to Chicago ana tne centers or tne east and realized Immense returns for their enterprise. This new Industry' bids well to spread through the entire valley, as a change Is being made from grain -raising to stock and the dairying buslhass. The apple crop Is Immense" and th trees are fairly groaning beneath the weight of the developing fruit. Linn county Is Increasing her acreage In all norucunurai lines so rapidly as to make her a positive competitor for the honor of being the county with the largest fruit acreago in the state of Oregon. Klamath Falls. Or.. .Tulv 50. Fruit Inspector O. A. Stearns reports a fair fruit croD In Klamatl counfv this vnnr. The frosts In the spring did consider able damage here, as elsewhere, but there will be a large berry crop and a fair crop of apples. He reports the trees on which the blossoms were destroyed In the soring as now putting out a second bloom, an unusual occurrence. flower, California, crate.
