By starting early in the work you
-will not have to work so - strenuously
towards the .end of the contest. Now
is the time to get a good start. You
will meet many people who are already
taking The Journal but whose subscrip
tions are not yet tip. By soliciting them
early you can get their pledge to renew
their orders with you, thus assuring
yourself many votes later, on during the

Large numbers of businessmen, pro
fessional men and manufacturers will
be leaving for summer resorts later on,
and it ill be difficult to reach them.
The wise students will start In right
now canvassing office buildings, stores,
factories, hotel, apartment houses and
institutions without delay.
It is well to plan a regular campaign
and work with a system, thus facilitat
ing your work. If you do not fully un
derstand the conditions of the contest
the contest manager will give you all
particulars. Apply to him personally
or write to him and ask him all the
questions you like regarding: the con
test. Remember, it does not make any
difference what section Of the country
you live or work in, you have an equal
chance to win a scholarship, the condi
tions being such that contestants in
the country have the same advantage as
those in the city.- ,
All those who hav any deserving boy
or girl, young man or young woman
In mind will do them a favor by nomi
nating them for -a scholarship. While
some students are ambitious they are
naturally backward in asking favors,
but when friends Interest themselves
in their behalf it encourages them to be
more confident in winning.

quisition to any- young person's re
sources and will be of benefit to the
recipient when nothing but empty mem
nrfna of honest diversion will remain.

sifter, and consists of a hinged bottom,
which is solid, and which prevents the
leakage of flour through the Hie ve when
it $s carried from flour barrel to mold
Ing table. Every housewife knows the
Inconvenience of having the flour sift
through onto the floor and table, leav
ing a trail which must be cleaned un
after every .i.,ndling of flour. The care
ful housewife takes a plate from tht
