Diver Recovers Machinery From Sub
merged Steam Schooner.

Astoria, Or., June IS Frits De Rock,
the submarine diver, yesterday took a
contract to recover the pump, - donkey
engine and gear- that had fallen over
board from the steam schooner Minnie
E. Kelton. and today after two hours
work landed them on a barge, the eon
tract price being $150. The underwrit-
era have practically abandoned the work
of raising the schooner and are now
awaiting instructions from the owners
in San Francisco to offer her for sale as
she now lies below Smith's Point.
The steamer Washington cleared at
the custom-house today for 8an Fran-
cisco with 565,000 feet of lumber.. The
steamer Shoshone also -cleared for Ban
: Francisco with $00,000 feet of lumber.
The British ship Kelbnrn also cleared
for Cardiff, Wales, with 880,000 feet of
: lumber.: She wllf proceed -.to Portland
to complete her cargo. The- British
steamship Guernsey la loading 2.000.000
feet of lumber at the Hume mill for
