sand rainbow trout were brought yester
day from s the Busch hatchery to Hal
lowell lake, y on the Frits place, , near
Gladstone. These trout are not only
the first hatched in the Busch hatchery,
but, the . first of the kind hatched In
Oregon.' Eight thousand rainbow trout
were shipped from the government' sta
tion on the Clackamas to southern Ore
gon yesterday. AU how remaining In
the station will be distributed among
tn streams of Clackamas county.

The Andorinha, was her in January,
1904. and took awav the largest wheat
cargo even set afloat here on a sailing

It Is possible that the big windjam
mers will get away with still larger
cargoes than they carried on their for
mer visits here because a .measure is
under consideration to have the loading
line on British sailing vessels raised
sufficiently to increase the capacity one
fourth of that now indicated by the
pllmsol mark. This would give the
Andorinha about 40,000 more bushels
than she took out last time.

Helene Blum Goes on Rocks on Falk

On reaching ' Falkland Islands May
26 the French ship Helene Blum went
on the rooks and became a total loss,
according to a dispatch received by the
Merchants Exchange from San Fran
cisco last night The vessel was bound
for Port Stanley, on the islands, with
general cargo . from Europe. The crew
was saved.. ."'--
The Helene Blum was chartered a few
months ago by a Portland exporting
firm to come here from Port Stanley to
load new crop -wheat this fall so her
loss will have to be retrieved by the
engagement of another "vessel. It is
supposed she drifted ashore when enter
ing her destination. -

cargo of wheat and lumber.
The steam schooner Nome City, which
left for Rainier yesterday to load lum
ber, will be at the Eastern A Western
Lumber, company' dock tonight to take
on a quantity of lumber.

arrived at Couch street dock last night

Second Trial for Murder of
Alice Minthorn Again
Postponed.
Despite the opposition of Attorney
John A. Jeffrey, representing the de
fendant, th case of George L. Blodgatt
has been , continued until next - fall.
Blodgett has been in Jail many long
months 'awaiting a second trial on the
charge of 'murdering ' Alice Mtn thorn.

Judge Gantenbein continued the cas
without day on the request of th dis
trict attorney's office. This was done
because of the great congestion of the
docket Case are now .several days
behind, and a large number of hotly
contested' damage suits are yet to be
tried this month, besides at least one
Chinese murder case.
The case originally was set for April
18 but Blodgett was not ready for
trial then and secured a continuance
until June. ' He wanted to secure the
attendance of witnesses from Montana.
Some of these witnesses are here, and
their depositions will be taken for use
when the case finally comes on for

Sam L. Berry and John Fischer, charged
with circulating abscene poeta . cards.
The reason given for dlsmissa is that
the defendants have reformed h their
conduct and are not attempting to cir
culate the cards, and the penalty that
would have to bo imposed under the law
is regarded as too severe under the cir
cumstances. Th penalty - is not less
than one nor more than three year Im
prisonment and not less than $500 nor
more than $1,600 fine. - . .
The four cases dismissed todav have
been standing on the calendar since last
September, awaiting action by the dis
trict attorney. .In the cas of Berry a
demurrer wss filed on the ground that i
the information was Insufficient, but it
was overruled by Judge Cleland, then
reaming juage, several montns ago.
