He was accompanied by another man, -whose name is unknown. As both men were .intoxicated and Cole stated he waa going to Frisco alone the agent would sell him only one ticket. While he waa paying for the ticket Cole flung around 1-0 gold pieces In a lavish and reckless manner. He finally picked them up and staggered 'away. - ,A About half an hour, after a man rnshed Into the steamship office de manding to know If his partner. Cole, who had all their joint funds. , had bought tickets to Ban Francisco. Two hours later Cole was picked up in a drunken condition, minus bis ticket, money and friend, , who was arrested later, but on. the showing he was able to make the authorities liberated him. ,The presumption Is that whoever robbed Colo used the Roanoke ticket and i got away and messages have been sent ' to Eureka and Ban Francisco to arrest and hold the party who has a- ticket of a given number and hold him untlL a I warrant and extradition papers can be sworn to and an officer sent -after the 'culprit. . - -j j -- r .
