THE OREGON " DAILY JOURNAL, " PORTLAND, . SATURDAY EVENING, JUNE 6 1908. IffilTO GO TO OEM Democratic'. State Central "... Committee Meets Tuesday for That Purpose. ' Democratic party leader of Oregon will bold sway. In Portland , Monday night and Tuesday next when the Dem ocratic . state. central .dommittee will meet to be followed Tuesday by the Democratic state convention. - Monday, night. at 8 o'clock sthe state central committee will meet In the par lor of the Imperial hotel, when the general routine- business of .the party organisation In the state will1 be trans acted, :-i :A A- ".i.v'- v-v-' Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock the sfato convention will be called to order In the Woodmen of the world hall oy Alex Sweek, chairman of the state cen tral committee. The convention win have a little line of business to trans act, consisting of the election . of eight delegates to the national, convention to be held in Denver, eight alternates for the delegates and the further" nomina tion of four presidential electors to be placed on the official ballot for , the presidential election of .November next : ; Bl? Attendance Xxpected. From air Indications there will be a large attendance at the convention, as a number of the prominent Democrats of the state -are anxious to make the trip to the convention In Denver. It Is not' probable, however,, that the con vention will have any such strenuous scenes as marked the proceedings, of the lata Republican state convention, as there is no Internal warfare among the delegates. William 3. Bryan will get the Indorse ment of the convention, according to the card, and the only care of the conven tion wUl be to see to It that the dele gates who are 'elected to the national convention are all sound Bryan men, who will stand behind the Nabraskan uatll the last ditch has boeh crossed. Delegates' Election Only. .. . .' It Is believed that the convention will be able to organize and finish its busi ness early Tuesday afternoon, as there Is nothing other than the' election of the delegates and the electors to come before the meeting. ..-'-- i . Had the amendment providing for an l Increase in the number of supreme 1 court Justices passed at the polls June 1, the convention . would have had the further task of nominating two men to . make the race for the vacant places on the bench- created by the amendment. Th. TjLllur tit t H Jh imMfimwnt r hnwviip leaves the convention with nothing to do other than the election ot national delegate and presidential electors. - Wat of Delegates. .
