By the decision of Judge O'Day yes
terday afternoon Mrs. Beada I Helf
rlch was granted a divorce from John G.
Helfrl6h, express messenger and base
ball fan of Spokane.' One of the chief
, complaints of the wife was that her hus
band attended the ball games while he
left her to look after the chickens and
. cows on the ranch, but desertion was
' the ground orv which she sought divorce.
. Previously she tried to obtain a divorce
in Spokane on the ground of cruelty and
- met defeat. Judge O'Day, in giving his
. decision, said he thought the evidence
... would 'sustain a desertion charge and he
: was satisfied that we Helf rlchs cannot
live together asaln. Ha said that had
he been in the position of the Spokane
Judge two years ago he probably would
- have refused a dlvoree also, but the sit
uation is different now. The court de
clared it would not be to the interests of
the litiganta or of society to refuse a
- legal separation at this time. ., .. .

according to Ledbury. Ledbury filed
charges against the Hunters at the
time the assault occurred but the ease
was overlooked by the court..
