j William Jennings Bryan -will have 640
votes squarely pledged for his nomina
tion. Is the unofficial statement of the
Bryan boomers tonight. That will be
only 32 abort of the neceasary two
thirds. '
Of the delegates already elected, 136
are. claimed for Bryan. -
Birmingham, 'Ala., .May 18. If le state
Democratic campaign ended tonight and
rrimarlns will be held -Monday, at which
he fight will be clear-cut between, the
Johnson and Bryan followers.
The campaign In the interest of John
, son was a sharp one, every county be
ing reached either through publlo speak
ing or by literature, great quantities of
which were sent out of headquarters
here.
A. Q. Smith, chairman of the John
son state campaign committee, lonlght
gave out this statement, based upon
information from every county and pre
cinct in the state: ,
"We olalm a sweeping victory for
Governor Johnson Monday. The Demo
crats of Alabama are yearning for a
national victory this year, Alabama Is
the first state upon the roll and she
will lead off for Johnson and Demo
cratic success at Denver.
