Members of the liquor license com mittee of the city council accepted the representations of the brewers in good faith yesterday afternoon in the mat ter of wet' and dry districts, and rec ommended that an ordinance be passed conforming to the lines laid out by the brewers. The ordinance will come up before the council tomorrow and It la believed that it will be passed. Paul Wesalntrer. who acted as sooke man for the brewers, told the commit teemen that the brewers were acting in good faith in the matter and that tney wanted to snow tne public that tne liquor Interests - were as heartily In favor of keeping the residence districts ory as the residents themselves. According to the ordinance to be In troduced tomorrow there will be no new saloons started or transferred to the drv district as outlined bv the brewers for the next four years. At the end of that time the brewers believe they will be able to even further curtail the movement of saloona to the dry resi dence districts. We8singer stated yes terday that if the ordinance was passed that there would be no more saloona started in the residence districts be cause the brewers would refuse to sell beer to them. TYSON SAYS SIX MONTHS Th medical term for "kidney trou bl" Is Nephritis. Medical works agree that It Is curable during the acute or first stage, and that It Is Incurable In the second or chronlo stage. When is the line crossed? One of the latest authorities. James Tyson, M. IX, professor of medicine In the University Of Pennsylvania, says in his late work, page 121, that the changes have been observed as early as the tenth week, and are probably established in all cases by THE3 SIXTH MONTH. The name Nephritis means Inflamma tion of the kidneys, and, the books hav ing nothing for It, physicians have been helpless the deaths nave grown to 170 daily), and Professor Tyson plainly says (page 1S&.) as to curative meas ures to restore the kidney to Its normal condition, "1 BELIEVE THERE ARE NONE." . The Inevitable logic of this situation Is that as Fulton's Renal Compound Is the only thine; known that reduces In. flammatlon of the kidneys after it has become chronlo, it Is the only thing in the world that people can look to for recovery who have had kidney trouble longer than six months. - (Note In fact. It is the only thins; that acts directly, on kldnev Inflamma tion at any stage, first or last. But It naturally reduces it more aulckly be fore than after It becomes chronic.) There are many clauses In the ordinance which have a tendency to cut down the number of hawkers in the downtown district and the measure met with con siderable opposition from attorneys ap pearing before the commitee In behalf of the peddlers and hawkers. Several of the attorneys protested that the measures would be prohibitive but the councllmen had petitions from business men who asked that restric tions be placed on the hawkers. The business men placed their contentions on the ground that they pay high rents and are unable to compete with the hawkers who make a practice of stand ing directly, in rront or stores ana un dersell tbe merchant. American Women Responsible for Man Errors. .., Many people make a decent living bv writing about heraldry and things of ;nat sort witnout Deing in ice least equipped for the task, and so they make the most ridiculous mistakes. - The com mon slip is with the sons and daugh ters, of peers of higher rank. ' Their title being those of courtesy the possi bility cf error is the more frequent. Thus we are constantly told, says the correspondent of Town and Country, that the widow of Mr. Hammersley, who became Duchess of Marlborough and later Lady William Beresford. is LALay Heresrora, tne wire or Lord Beresford." Also that Cora. Countess of Strafford (being the widow of Lord Strafford, another Lady Strafford hav ing succeeded) is really , Lady Cora Strafford, which if true would make her the daughter of a peer. A lady of great rank said the other Aay that American women had intro duced a custom In England which has caused much heartburning among the sticklers, and worse still, .the eustom wrong ta stgn yourself, for Instance, "Cora 8trafford. The correct signa ture U Strafford." Now one would suppose that this small matter would make little differ ence In this matter of fact world, but It has made enough difference to 'cause many learned men to sit up late at nlarht disputing the legality of the oolnt and many reams of official note pa per has been besmeared on tne subject.
