Six minute later.- at 1 0 minutes of

The quickness in which the summons
from the Jury room came augured well
for the defendant and himself and
counsel anticipated 4 favorable result.
, Foreman Mansfield .arose and raid:
JWe, the Jury, find Tirey I Ford,
the defendant in the above entitled case,
not guilty."
. When the .clerk read the verdict, the
cheering burst forth, which Could not

Tears flowed from the eyes of the
defendant and his young von who sat'

' Assistant Prosecutor John CGara -did
not wait to witness the scenes of re

,v ford' Statement.
Tirey 1 Ford, made the- following
statement: v
, "Again a jury of 1 men, have placed
thir stamp of disapproval upon the ef
fort that have been made through the
district- attorney's office, to injure my
good name. To these It men I tender
my profoundest gratitude. The remark
able theory' advanced by the prosecu
tion and the total failure of any sort
of proof even tending , to sunnort such
theory left no doubt as to the result
wnen tne issue enouia rln&jly go into
the hands of the 12 citizens who had no
motive or desire other than to do ex
act and even handed Justice to one of
their falsely accused fellowmen.
"It would seem that the verdict, of
two American Juries , ought to be a
iuu ' vindication oerore .in 'American
people." . - t. ;'' e rf...-.'1.,
Patrick Calhoun' said The -verdict
. of the ford Jury returned within seven
minute, is another conclusive demon-
irauon inac innocent men may rely
upon me common sense or ine American
people for - Justice. In this case the
prosecution wa on rnai rrora the start.
The veniremen as they i were examined
showed by their answers that a senti
ment of condemnation of the action of
me prosecution - was almost . universal.
"The retrial of General Ford was an
outrage.' But. the prosecution has been
guilty of so many outrages against law,
Justice and decency, that there Is no
cause for surprise that they have been
guilty of this one. The verdict of the
jury must be regarded as -an American
condemnation of the prosecution's in
famous methods." .
