Coming up the Columbia yesterday
afternoon the Condor used her spread

been the fastest sailing ever Indulged
in on the Columbia river.
- The Condor comes here about once
a month for merchandise for the peo
ple of Alsea, but la otherwise employed
carrying lumber from the mills of the
Waldport Lumber company to other
Dorts in that vicinity where a good deal
or nuiiaing is going on.

According to figure compiled by the
Merchants' exchange of this city; the
Portland shipments for April were: To
Europe, 1,023,71(0 bushels: orient, 88,
18 bushels: California, 47,63 .bush

freight this time, most of her cam
having been discharged at San Francis
Co, where she called on the way from
Yokohama. Having no overland freight,
the Nlcomedla will so direct to Alanha
