Batterman ahot Deits with a shotgun In the right shoulder, the charge opening a cavity Into which fragments of clothing were forced by the shot. Before wheeling Deits toward the river Batterman attempted to kill mm witn a naccnet. Deits declared to District Attorney Phelps of this city his belief that worry over their financial condition had driven Batterman partially insane.
