It Is evident that there will yet have to be muoh prodding and urging on tho part of good citizens If anything like a full vote is polled at the primaries on April 17. That it is to the interest of every citizen to have a large vote registered and cast on election day will hardly be disputed, but unless those who . ap preciate the Situation act promptly there will be thousands of votes uncast that should be gathered in. ' . ; . , April 7 is the last day for registration. This leaves nine more days. Aa the number now registered Is 24,656, there will have to be an average of 600 per day to take the final figures beyond the 80,000 mark. Yesterday only S80 wera registered. The signs indicate a fa tiguing rush at the last, which may be avoided by those who go promptly. The books are open every mgnt .until o'clock. Of those now registered, the Hepub- Ucans have 19,210, the Democrat a 4,130, and all others 1,211. The Portland Chi nese have been attentive to their duties as citizens and it is believed that nearly all of those entitled to vote have regis tered.
