Suffering from the effects of a murderous attack made upon her by a thug, who dealt her two vicious blows with a black Jack, Mrs. Charles Reynolds, wife of wealthy mining man, la today. being congratulated by scores of friends on ner rortunate escape rrom more serious injury. After spending the evening- with friends. Mrs. Reynolds started home. passing through the fashionable dis trict. She was passing a private drlve- y wnen a mug loaned out. seised her and then felled her with a terrltic blow. The program prepared for the oc casion extends over the entire week. The event has assumed greater propor tions than ever betore, and the entries for the speed contests assure unprece dented ' success. President H. B. Ward of Lin coln, Nebraska, presided, and amoug .nose presenting papers were Dr. Oeorno H. Hoxle of the University of Kansas, Ir. F. C. Zapffe of the University of Illinois, Herbert Welch of Ohio Wesley an University, and President W. L. Bryan of Indiana, University. The meet ing will adjourn tomorrow.
