Hood River's float promises to be one
of the handsomest individual pieces in
the parade. It ls"T3be an allegorical
creation, typifying the wealth and ex
tent of Hood River s orchards, xnere
Is to be a huge cornucopia, the Horn
of Plenty, resting on a Hood River
1 apple, eight feet In diameter. There are
to be other apples on the float and
bunches of strawberries, each berry to
be three feet In diameter, with every
thing else on the float in proportion.
The actual cost of the float itself will
be $600 and the trappings and decora
tions, with the hire of the horses, will
bring the total cost up to $1,000.
At present the total number of cities
: that have agreed to send floats for the
fiaradea Is SO, and more are correepond
ng with the Festival association.

and shops and a score of Industries In
East Joliet being submerged. If the
water continues to rise, great damage
will be caused.
Wabash. Ind.. March 6. Heavy rains
have melted the snow and today the
city Is experiencing the most serious
flood in its history. Streetcar lines are
tied up and several large factories are
closed. Many residences in the low
lands have been flooded and the oc
cupants forced, to 'movs out.
