Athletic Legislation Will Be
Enacted to Cure Evils
of Past Years.
Tomorrow there will convene in Whit
man college. Walla Walla, the first in
tercollegiate atudent conference ever
called in the northwest . to fix. definite
rules for athletic relations. Six col
leges will be represented, and out of tht
discussion will be evolved an organiza
tion which will have control of athletld
affairs.
Leglnlatlon will - be enacted to cover
number of evils which have hereto
fore existed. It Is expected that the
delegates will agree to limit the playing
of any college athlete on any team to
four years, and will Insist on a one
pear residence from the "roving" ath
ete before he Is permitted to represent
an institution.

tice among tbe young athletes of the
I Yamhill county high schools for the
big interscholastle field meet which
rill take place , at Pacific college at
Newbere, May 9, haa commenced. The
principal schools in the county will
enter teams at the meet and from the
Present outlook it will probably be the
tost successful ever held in old Yamhill.
Lafayette is taking the lead in tne
arrangements and is being assisted by

the athletle membership to a club rote
I stated that I would not support the
amendment offered by Mr. Morgan for
the reason that It had been written up

favor of putting the measure up to a
membership vote at the annual election,
