Astoria, Or,, Jan. 27. The annual re
port of the Alaska Packers' association
for the year 1907 contains infor
mation that la -of more than general in
terest to the public. During the season
the company operated 16 canneries, 14
in Alaska and two on Puget sound. Its
pack was 1,100,035 cases of canned
salmon and 3,791 barrels salt salmon.
The number of cases of the various
Varieties of salmon were aa. follows:
Bockeye, 22,554; red, 762,792; king, 25.
682; cohos, 28,615; pink, 826,963; chuma,
23,349; total, 1.100,035. This Is an In
crease of 66,359 cases and 1,786 barrels
over the pack of 1906. The, association's
net profits on the year's business wore
$609,645.79. .
In regard to the salmon hatcheries
operated by the association tho state
ment says: During 1907. from the 88.-
679,200 red salmon eggs were taken' in
1906 at the Karluk hatchery, 36,846,000
