Aurora, Or.. Jan. . The finding ef

Canby man who had been missing from
Ills home since Tuesday, December IT,
about two miles 4 from this city yester
day morning, sets at rest the numerous
rumors eoncerning Ms disappearance,
and felainlv shows that Mr. Fhegley
came to hlB death by his own hand, and
tnat death was premeaiiaiea.
- Searchlna- oartles had been organised
Wednesday from Aurora and Woodburn

party. In the buggy was found a note
savior.' ' this rir belonats at Canby.' and
the harness and a valise containing
papers relating to Mr. Phegley's business.-
All these articles were covered
over with an oil cloth to protect them
from the rain.
- As soon as the buggy was found the
searching parties, headed by J. W.
Cook, son-in-law of the deceased, came
to the conclusion that the body was not
zar orr. out as aaricness was approacn
Ing It was deemed advisable to postpone
further search until Thursday, when a

made and the ground near where the
buggy .was found carefully gone over.

easy position, as if the man had fallen
asleep. The body was lying partially
on the left side. When discovered no
marks of violence were discernible on
the body, and it looked like a case of
suicide, as an eight-ounce bottle of
Zemacol, a preparation for cure of
ecxema, . was found near by, partly
emptied.. Coroner dough was at once
notified, but as the case looked like
suicide he deputised H. A. Snyder of
.this city to act In the 'matter and take
charge of the remains. ,
v,The body was brought to the city
about 11 o'ciock ana taicen to Mr.
Snyder's undertaking rooms. When the
clothing was removed from the body it
was found that the left jugular vein
had been cut and a deep stab made over
the region of the heart. There was no
cut through the clothing to show that
any ..wounds had been made, and the
head of the dead man was lying over
on the left Side so that It was Impossi
ble to tell that he had cut his throat
when first discovered. The undercloth
ing had been rolled up over the region
